Jill Smolowe ansd Alexis Chiu explian the turn of events fact by fact of how Gary Ridgway (The Green River Killer) got away with the muder of fourty- eight women for twenty- one years before her was cought on November 5th of 2002. they claim that he covered his crime so well by using phoney clues, diposed bodies and relocated the womens cadavers so effectivlly. Smolowe and Chiu developed this claim by first reseaching how the remains were dropped at the dump sight and he also planted phoney evidence. Smolowe and Chiu equisitly followed reseach on ridgway and his cockiness really helped to prove their claim. They alos claimed that Ridgway was first under suvalence in the year 1983. Allegations started to suface when a witness reported having seen a victim in a truck, which belonged to Ridgway. When the detectives interviewed him , he admitted to hiring a prostitute, but nothing else. Smolowe and Chiu alos prove his guilt by writing about how in 2001 they found evidence proving the semen on the victims matched Ridgways saliva that was taken nearly a decade ago. Chiu and Smolowe state that two months later after Ridgeway was arrested for soliciting a prostitute ( a undercover cop) he pleaded guilty to fourty- eight counts of murder. He avoided the death- penalty and helped find the aremains of four unidentified victims. They proved this by explainign how he released details of how he leared them in and made them comfortable. How he killed them and what he did postmortem to the remains. This work is significant becuase it shows how un-remorseful a serail killer can be. The y can be so cold to the point where they call there victims "garbage" or just dump them like trash. In the words of Detective Sue Peters "Ridgway had an addiction to killing" "He can't stop." Smolowe and Chiu show a great deal of this in their article.
